Buffalo Boudoir + Portrait Photography Studio Reveal!

Buffalo Boudoir Photography Studio

As soon as we moved to Buffalo last May, I was on the lookout for the perfect boudoir photography studio. One of the hardest parts of leaving Rochester was giving up the gorgeous studio space I had there! I knew it would be hard to replace - I wanted a space with high ceilings, large windows, and hardwood floors that was NOT on the ground floor (no peeping Toms please & thank you)! I decided to take my time and not rush into anything that wasn’t ideal, it would be worth the wait!

When I finally came across this beautiful space I knew it was the one. If it wasn’t perfect enough that the 700+ square feet of shooting space met all my criteria, it’s also located right in the Elmwood Village which is my favorite neighborhood in Buffalo (and it’s where my husband and I live)! With clients often coming in from out of town, I’m thrilled they all get a glimpse of this treasured area of Buffalo (and have lots of local dining options if they fancy a meal before or after our shoot)!

This studio will be (and already is) primarily used for boudoir and portrait sessions! It’s got tons of natural light coming in, and sunlight bouncing in off of the surrounding buildings gives it a beautiful, warm glow. The windows and white walls make it a really bright space, great for that light and airy look, but also easy to create dramatic images. The sheer curtains throughout add some extra privacy, but they also add a lovely stylistic element. The goal of the interior décor was to be minimalist, but still beautiful.  I want each boudoir and portrait session to be about my subject, so there’s no need for elaborate sets or intricate backdrops. Solid color backdrops however, we have plenty of! I love the look of a black background – it’s great for dramatic images that showcase the form and figure.

I didn’t want the space to feel cluttered with furniture, and I’m certainly not big on props (simplicity is key!) but I still wanted it to be warm and welcoming, and for there to be plenty variety when desired! We have a bunch of different seat options, from classic posing stools to our green velvet couch! The couch is from Wayfair, clothing racks and curtains from Target, wall art from Society6, and various other frames and decor are from Michaels, Homegoods, and Amazon. Scroll to take a tour of my new favorite place!
