Stephanie + Brett are such a sweet, easy-going couple and it was an absolute pleasure to take these photos for them! When I was driving over to Mendon Ponds Park to meet them for their engagement session, I got a little nervous about the amount of fog there was – I could barely see the road! As I drove through the park I went from nervous to excited as I saw how unique and beautiful all the scenery looked cloaked in fog, and I couldn’t wait to get started! We wandered around the park a bit, chatting about their wedding plans and stopping here and there for photos as we went, and as I got to know them better I got even more excited about this couple’s big day – I know it’s going to be fantastic and I can’t wait! We finished up the session in Rochester’s High Falls district, where I was hoping some of the brightly colored architecture could give this grey day some pop! I love how these photos turned out and I’m excited to share a few of my favorites below – enjoy!
Here’s something a little different for my blog followers! Over the past year I’ve done a few shoots with my close friend Hannah Zimmerman on her journey to become a certified Pilates instructor, which she’ll officially be doing next month! These shoots were SO much fun - what could be better than photographing one of your favorite people doing what she loves?! You can follow her instagram account (you might recognize some of these photos there) @hannrosepilates to learn about Pilates, or just for day-to-day fitness advice and inspiration – she certainly inspires me!
I absolutely loved creating these images, and I can’t wait to do more sessions like this! If there are any other Rochester fitness lovers out there looking for a way to showcase your passion, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me!
I couldn't be more excited that I got to photograph this fantastic couple's engagement session, and that I'll also be photographing their wedding next year! Emily and Stephen are a beautiful couple (inside and out) with great style, and they're an absolute pleasure to photograph! Their engagement session was at Schoen Place in Pittsford, NY on a beautiful fall afternoon. Here's a collection of some of my favorite images from the session - enjoy!
Ashley and Andrew's engagement session last week was great! We started off at Highland Park and then headed over to the canal at Schoen Place. Ashley and Andrew love spending time at the canal, and it's actually where they got engaged! What better place to have their engagement photos done!? These two are fun, friendly, and easy-going - so great to work with! I cannot wait for their wedding next summer!
I’m so jealous of all of the guests that Becca and Jay invited to their wedding celebration for a few reasons. Mainly because Becca and Jay are such a nice, down-to-earth, fun couple that it’s obvious they bring nothing but joy into the lives of those close to them. It’s a lucky bunch that gets to be in their inner circle! Also, because their wedding reception was one of the most fun parties I’ve ever seen!
No one let the fact that it was a VERY rainy day prevent them from having an amazing time, least of all, Becca and Jay. Not only did they not let the weather bum them out, they made their wedding ceremony all the more memorable by stepping out from under the tent and saying their I do’s under the falling rain. It really was awesome! Then the (very wet) newlyweds made their way from their ceremony to the Sodus Bay Yacht Club in the horse and carriage that Becca’s dad surprised them with that morning!
As I said, the reception was a blast! I literally laughed harder during the speeches than I’ve laughed in years, and Nik and the Nice Guys always do a fantastic job keeping a party going! The crowd definitely loved that the whole band showed up wearing Buffalo Bills jerseys. I could appreciate this too, given that I drove directly from their wedding to Buffalo so that I could attend the Bills home opener the next day! Becca and Jay are pretty laid back, so although I don’t think they’re really the type to love being the center of attention, they’re just too much fun to avoid it!
Becca and Jay - Thanks so much for choosing me as your photographer! You deserved an absolutely perfect wedding day, and I’m glad that’s what you made it! I hope you had the best time in Hawaii, and for the rest of your lives, for that matter!
Enjoy the photos! Go Bills!
When you’re in the wedding business you hear a lot of ceremonies, speeches, toasts, love stories, etc. but somehow, it never gets old. Every couple is so unique that the same old phrase applied to their love takes on new meaning. I photograph all different types of wedding ceremonies, including catholic masses like Clare and Drew’s, and a pretty common reading is the Corinthians 13:4-8. Seriously, I have heard this A LOT. But there’s a reason for that - I don’t know if there are any other words that paint such a poignant picture of the type of love we should all strive for. For those of you who haven’t been at quite as many ceremonies as I have, here is one version of it: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”
Beautiful right!? It was as moving as ever when it was read during Clare & Drew’s ceremony at the Holy Trinity Church, in Webster, NY. Clare and Drew exchanged their vows, rings, and first kiss in this church surrounded by family and friends happy to see them become husband and wife!
Their story began back in college, when they first met as students at SUNY Geneseo (the best college in the world)! You might remember them from their coffee shop engagement session that was on my blog earlier this year, in which I raved about Clare’s adorable outfits. I wasn’t surprised to see that she had chosen the most beautiful dress, bridesmaids dresses, shoes, jewelry – EVERYTHING, for her wedding. The hair and makeup done by Brio Salon in Pittsford was clearly another great choice judging from how stunning all the girls looked. Clare and Drew really do have impeccable taste. They chose the Inn on Broadway for their wedding reception – which is an elegant venue in downtown Rochester. You really can’t beat this place – the staff, food, and décor were all so great. The stunning cake made by Erindipity’s was a talking point of the evening, I heard at least 10 people wondering if the gorgeous flowers could possibly be edible – the answer was yes. Cake art at it’s finest! Another thing that stuck out to me at this wedding was how nice everyone was! Clare & Drew’s families and friends were all having a wonderful time celebrating the newlyweds – it was a lot of fun to photograph this event!
Clare and Drew – I’m going to try not to make this creepy but it's going to be hard.. I LOVE YOU GUYS. It has been wonderful getting to know you over these past several months and I feel lucky to have been able to capture your engagement and wedding photography. All the happiness in the world to you both!
Enjoy the photos!
Lisa and Mike became husband & wife last Friday, and there was clearly not a doubt in their minds or hearts that they were each saying their I do’s to the right person. They're a great couple – both of them are kind, fun, and obviously care deeply about their families and friends. Speaking of family, they have started one of their own – they have an adorable little boy named Anthony, who made an excellent ring bearer as he rode down the aisle in a wagon with a sign “Daddy, here comes mommy!”
Lisa and her bridesmaids got ready for the big day at the Strathallan, a favorite hotel in downtown Rochester. It’s a great spot, and the girl’s room on the top floor had some beautiful views of the city. After taking lots of bridal party and family photos there, everyone made their way to Mario’s in Pittsford for the wedding ceremony and reception.
The ceremony was short and sweet, beginning with Mike absolutely beaming as he first saw Lisa walking down the aisle. I’ve seen lots of neat ways that brides and grooms incorporate something symbolic and unique into their wedding ceremony, and Lisa and Mike were the first I’ve photographed to do a wine and chocolate ceremony. You might be thinking what I was thinking – why doesn’t everyone make wine and chocolate part of their wedding ceremony!? It was meant to symbolize how love will be both bitter and sweet, with triumphs and tragedies, and how the newlyweds will stick together through it all. After that and some beautifully heartfelt vows, it was time for cocktail hour, then the reception. It was a really special event, and Lisa and Mike made sure to honor their loved ones – both present and passed away. There weren’t many dry eyes in the room as Lisa shared a dance with her grandmother. There were also some hilarious speeches, and lot’s of excellent moves on the dance floor after dinner was finished.
Lisa and Mike, I hope you’re enjoying newlywed life and still basking in the joy of your wonderful wedding celebration! Thank you so much for letting me play a role in your big day. All the happiness in the world to you both, and Anthony!
Enjoy the photos!
