There's something about having a place completely to ourselves that I really love during engagement sessions. Not everyone is completely at ease when they first get in front of the camera, so when you add in a bunch of curious strangers eyeing them, some people take a little longer to feel like themselves. When you find a space like this park on Hemlock Lake, this isn't something we have to worry about! It was so peaceful and calm there, I enjoyed the location almost as much as I enjoyed photographing the beautiful couple in these photos! Courtney & Dan live in Boston, so since they work during the week and my weekend schedule is so crazy, it was a little tricky to find a time that worked for everyone. I'm so thankful that when we did it ended up being an absolutely perfect afternoon in the Finger Lakes. These two were so easy-going and fun to chat with I felt like I could've spent hours more exploring this beautiful scenery and photographing them. Here are a few of my favorite images from their session!
Courtney and Eric’s story began over nine years ago, when they happened to be at a few of the same parties during a break from college. They met and chatted for a while, probably unsure if they’d ever see each other again, but something compelled them to keep in touch. One thing lead to another, and they found themselves in a long distance relationship while Courtney was in school, and Eric was in the army. After getting to know them a bit throughout this process, I don't find it surprising that they had the drive and dedication to make the distance work, even with so much going on in their own separate lives. Eventually they realized they wanted to spend forever together, and during a trip with Courtney’s family Eric got down on one knee. Obviously, Courtney said yes!
When their big day finally arrived, things started off at Belhurst Castle. Courtney and her bridesmaids got ready in one of the castle’s rooms, which I’m always so excited to photograph in because the architecture and stained glass are beautiful! Eric was nearby on a house on the property getting ready with his groomsmen, and toasting with the bottle of Johnny Walker Blue he’d gotten as a gift from his soon-to-be wife! The forecast had called for nonstop rain, but it ended up holding out for most of the day, and was just barely sprinkling when it was time to head to St. Stephen’s church in Geneva for the ceremony. Whether it’s during a first look or at the start of the ceremony, it’s always a beautiful moment when the bride and groom first see each other, and it NEVER gets old. Eric’s face was priceless as he got his first sight of Courtney being escorted down the aisle by her father (and so was Courtney’s face, and her dad’s for that matter). Lots of love in that room! Their reception was back at Belhurst Castle, and from their joy as they shared first dance, to the heartfelt speeches, to quite the dance party, this was a party to be remembered! I’m so thankful I got to capture all of it for them!
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Meghan and Brian and their beautiful wedding day at Glenora Wine Cellars on Seneca Lake. It was a gorgeous October morning in the finger lakes when I arrived to capture the big day; there were a few clouds in the sky but with no threat of rain, there was a cool breeze but it was still perfectly warm enough for their outdoor ceremony, and the view of the vineyard, lake and surrounding foliage was breathtaking. I hadn’t even seen the bride and groom yet but I had such a good feeling about the day, and it still managed to exceed my expectations. It was the perfect way to finish off a fantastic wedding season!
Meghan and Brian found me through a mutual friend, and I am SO thankful that we were connected. These two are the kind of couple that everyone wants in their friend group. They’re fun, kind and generous people, who really value their loved ones. Meghan is an incredibly sweet person who made me feel so welcomed the second I arrived to the house where she and her bridesmaids got ready in the morning. She was just so relaxed and I loved her attitude, I knew that nothing could stop her from having an amazing day and that’s the type of mentality I love to see in a bride! She and Brian’s faces when they first saw each other as their ceremony began were priceless, especially Brian’s! He just looked so happy! He showed his sentimental side again later when he said some beautifully heartfelt words about his new wife at the reception, but he had no problem seamlessly going from that to hitting the dancefloor where he was absolutely the life of the party! They seem like a great fit for each other and I am so grateful that I got to capture this day for them – thank you so much Meghan and Brian! I wish you guys nothing but the absolute best and hope that our paths cross again!
Meghan + Brian's florist was Don's Own Flower Shop, their ceremony and reception music was provided by DJ Philly C, and Meghan's wedding dress was from JBK Bridal. A huge thank you to Diana Kapatos for second shooting this wedding with me!

I absolutely LOVE doing sessions in new locations, and I was so excited when I pulled up to the place Lindsey and Paul chose for their engagement session! Their friends own a golf course out by Warsaw which they thought would be a perfect place for their engagement photos, and they were right! I’ll let the photos do the talking when it comes to all the various scenery there, but I was a very happy camper. I could tell I was really going to enjoy working with these two when I first met them, but I’m all the more excited for their wedding next year after getting to know them a bit better during their engagement session! They’re kind, gracious, and relaxed and it was SUCH a pleasure to photograph them.
