Loved photographing this sweet couple’s engagement session along the canal in Pittsford a few weeks ago! Michele & Steve are adorable together and they were so much fun to photograph! We lucked out with a gorgeous evening, not too hot or humid and the light was lovely! We took our time walking up and down the canal and exploring all the surrounding scenery that Schoen Place has to offer. These two live right nearby, which made this location perfect as its right in the area that they call home. So happy they chose me to document this happy time in their lives!! Here are some of my favorites from their session; enjoy!
I had so much fun getting to know these two and photographing their engagement session a few weeks ago! They are so incredibly sweet and easy to be around, and we had an absolutely perfect spring night in Rochester! We did their session in Mendon Ponds Park, which I love because there's such a variety of scenery to work with. I always recommend doing engagement sessions during the hour or so before sunset because the light on a sunny day is just INCREDIBLE at that time. It's probably my favorite thing to do to just explore a location in this type of light and see how it's falling, and photographing a happy couple in love within it, especially when that couple is as great as Katrice & Chris!! Here's a handful of my favorite images from their session - enjoy!
What a year! I absolutely LOVE engagement sessions for a million reasons, a big one being all the locations they bring me to, from barns to beaches and everything in between. 2017 took me from a brewery in Hoosick Falls, to a sunset boat ride on Lake Sacandaga, to an old fort outside of Buffalo, to the various beautiful parks and neighborhoods right here in Rochester, NY! I certainly got to photograph couples in a lot of gorgeous places this year, but even better than the locations were the people in these photographs! Every couple is totally unique, and I loved getting to know each of them and learning about their love story, which brings me to the other main reason I love photographing engagement sessions; getting to know my clients! The more I get to know you, the better able I am to truly capture the essence of YOU and YOUR relationship. It is so special to have photographs to bring you back to the real emotions and excitement of this wonderful time in your lives!
All of the couples I’ve worked with have one thing in common – they are each an absolute pleasure to photograph! I don’t know how I continuously get so lucky with these incredible couples finding and hiring me, but I am endlessly grateful to them for letting me make these small works of art to showcase their love story. Some of these lovebirds’ weddings have come and gone, but the majority of them will be coming up this year and I couldn’t be more excited for this upcoming wedding season! I had a great time looking through all of 2017’s engagement sessions and narrowing it down to some of my favorite images to share with you here! Enjoy!
Heidi & Jack are exactly the type of couple that I love "working" with, but I can hardly call it work when my clients are so much fun to be around! I remember meeting Heidi a few years ago when she was a bridesmaid for another favorite client of mine, and she said someday she’d be reaching out to me about her own wedding! She was so sweet and I had my fingers crossed that someday I’d hear from her, and earlier this year I did!
For Heidi & Jack, it all started over $.25 chicken wings. They were both out at wing night when they were introduced by a mutual friend, and needless to say, they hit it off! One thing led to another, and over the next 7.5 years they started to build a life together, living in various cities and adopting two dogs who are maybe the most picture-perfect animals I have ever seen in my life!!
I loved hearing Jack describe how he found the perfect place to propose to Heidi while they were on vacation in Hawaii this fall and hiking with friends, but he wanted it to just be the two of him so he persuaded her to go back on the same hike later in their trip. They got stuck in heavy traffic on their way there for the second time, and Heidi was a little less than enthused with the hassle, it was getting late and she wasn’t quite sure why they needed to repeat this hike! Any lack of enthusiasm she may have been feeling melted away and turned to pure joy when Jack asked her to marry him! I love picturing them on the hike back, newly engaged, half skipping half running with huge grins on their faces thinking about all the wonderful things ahead of them!
Here are a few of my favorite images from their engagement session at Old Fort Niagara and around Youngstown! Enjoy!
I absolutely loved photographing this engagement session at Letchworth State Park! I hadn’t been out there in years, and completely forgot what an incredible spot it is! There are so many beautiful views and types of scenery that make it perfect for this type of session! Now that the leaves are starting to change more, I’m definitely going to make it a priority to visit the park again in a few weeks to check out the foliage!
The scenery was fantastic, but the best part of this session was the two incredible humans I got to photograph! Claire is one of my closest friends in the world. She’s incredibly beautiful inside and out, so thoughtful, caring, and hilarious, and she found a perfect partner in Adam, who is equally kind and always the life of the party! They’re some of my (and my husband’s) favorite people to hang out with! They met each other (and me!) while we were all college students at SUNY Geneseo. They are undoubtedly some of the nicest, most fun, and just the BEST people in the world and I’m so happy I got to capture their engagement session!
Here are some of my favorite images from this shoot!
Spring engagement sessions have arrived! YAY!
I absolutely LOVE living in Rochester and photographing couples all over this beautiful city and it’s suburbs, but it’s always nice to switch it up as well! Nice is a bit of an understatement actually; traveling is one of my favorite parts of life, especially when I get to photograph a love story while I’m away! Last week I made the trip to Baltimore to do just that.
Kristen and Rob are getting married later this year in Skaneateles, (a little gem of a town in central NY that everyone should visit it they have the chance!) but they wanted some photos together from a time other than their wedding. I hear this a lot; that a couple has been together for years, but they still don’t really have any “good” photos together aside from low-quality cell phone snapshots. An engagement session is the perfect solution to this!
I wasn’t sure what to expect from Baltimore, I’d never been before but was excited to check it out! It took me approximately 30 seconds of being in the city to fall in love with it. The area where we started the session was the Mount Vernon neighborhood, which I’m told is the cultural center of Baltimore. In the middle of it was a beautiful park full of spring flowers in bloom, beautiful staircases, fountains, etc. The streets nearby were filled with Victorian row homes and a plethora of cute shops and restaurants – lovely area! After we were done there, we headed to Federal Hill, which is literally a giant hill that overlooks the city and the harbor. It was the perfect place to capture Kristen and Rob with their city as the backdrop! The area nearby was fantastic as well, but I’m starting to feel like a commercial for Baltimore, so I’ll stop. BUT EVERYONE SHOULD GO THERE.
Kristen and Rob are fantastic! They’re a lot of fun, relaxed, and were great at being themselves in front of the camera. I’m so thankful that I got the chance to get to know them before their wedding, which I am now looking forward to even more!
Enjoy the photos!
Carli and Matt's engagement session was one of my favorites! They were a pleasure to work with, it was a beautiful fall afternoon, and the light was wonderful! I especially loved the location where we started the session, one of the parks along the Genesee River that I had no idea existed until Carli suggested it for their engagement photos, and it was a really unique and beautiful spot. Our next stop was downtown Rochester, an area I know and love, as do Carli and Matt! These two really are fantastic and I'm so excited for their wedding next summer!
One of my favorite parts of what I do is getting to see all the beautiful places people choose for their weddings and engagement shoots, so I'm always excited to do a session somewhere new. This is especially true when the location is as wonderful as the park Courtney and Matt chose for their shoot. Knox Farm State Park is comprised of hundreds of acres of grassy fields, woods, ponds, etc., and the old wooden fences and red barns on the property give it a country feel - I loved it! Courtney and Matt are fantastic and so much fun to shoot - I cannot wait for their wedding next fall! Here are some of my favorites from their engagement session!
