I was back at the beautiful Bristol Harbour Resort again about a month ago for Haley & Matt’s engagement session! It was a Monday night so we basically had the place to ourselves, and it was great to wander all over with these two because there’s so much incredible scenery there! The weather had been a little crazy that day (it was POURING when I left my house in Fairport) so I was relieved that we ended up with such a great night! I had a blast photographing these two and I am THRILLED that they chose me to be their wedding photographer; I can’t wait to have them in front of my camera again on their big day!!! They’re super sweet, laid-back, and love to laugh and have a good time! My favorite images might be the last few, where they popped a few bottles of champagne which sprayed EVERYWHERE and made for some really fun photos that fit their personalities perfectly! Take a look below to see those and more of my favorites from their session! Enjoy!
I went to college at SUNY Geneseo (and LOVED it!) and it really didn’t feel like that big of a school, so I’m constantly surprised by how many people I meet that were there at the same time as me but we never crossed paths! Margaret and John are two examples of this, and funnily enough, they didn’t meet each other while we were all there either! They both moved to the Albany area after college, and that’s where they met and realized how close they must have come to meeting in the years before, especially when they realized they had tons of mutual friends! Obviously they hit it off, and have been together ever since!
These two are such a great couple! They’re smart, fun, easy-going, and an absolute pleasure to photograph! When their wedding day arrived it was a gorgeous summer day in the Finger Lakes. Everything happened at the Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua, which is in a perfect location; close to the downtown and right on the water! Margaret & John said their I do’s surrounded by their friends and family on the back lawn of the hotel overlooking Canandaigua Lake . It was a beautiful ceremony and I loved how Margaret and John’s faces lit up every time they looked at each other! These two are constantly laughing together and making each other smile, which made my job extra enjoyable. I had so much fun photographing their wedding and am very thankful they picked me to do so! These photos tell the story of their big day much better than I could, enjoy!

Ashley & Marc live in California, so we didn’t get the opportunity to meet in person until their wedding day, but I could tell from phone calls and emails that they had a great vibe and I was really excited to be their photographer! When I arrived to photograph the ladies getting ready Ashley greeted me as warmly as if I was an old friend, and I felt so welcomed and thankful to be working surrounded by such sweet people!
They tied the knot on what turned out to be a beautiful Sunday afternoon (despite some early rain showers) overlooking Canandaigua Lake on Bristol Harbour Resort’s back lawn. I’ve written on my blog before about how much I love this view, and it’s hard to imagine a more beautiful setting to promise forever to the love of your life! The ceremony was short and VERY sweet, and Ashley & Marc’s smiles after they were pronounced husband and wife couldn’t have been bigger!
Between the ballroom and the outdoor bar & patio, Ashley and Marc spent the rest of the celebrations mingling with their guests and dancing the night away (and thankfully letting me steal them away for a few times for photos with this spectacular view and sunset)! Ashley & Marc clearly love their friends and family deeply, and it’s obvious that the love goes both ways. There was SO much joy in the air and the speeches given by their siblings and best friends were some of the best that I’ve ever heard; emotional, hilarious at times, and completely heartfelt. If anyone wasn’t sure how special they are, the speeches said it all. I feel very lucky to get to photograph couples as kind, gracious, and in love with these two and I hope you enjoy this little collection of some of my favorite images from their wedding day!
What a spectacular day this was! I was prepared for non-stop rain so when we ended up with only a few minutes of it I was especially grateful! Not only did the rain hold off, we also had some really spectacular daytime light and skies! So thankful when the weather works out in our favor! Remember that future brides – a stormy forecast can mean magic skies! We started and ended the day at Bristol Harbour Resort, which is one of my favorite venues in the Finger Lakes, or really anywhere for that matter! You just can’t beat the views of Canandaiga Lake; I'm so thankful we were able to get outside and take advantage of them!
There were so many sweet moments that really stuck out to me as I captured this day. I loved the way everyone’s eyes filled with tears as Katie’s bridesmaids first saw her in her wedding dress, you could tell these girlfriends had really become more like family! As emotional as that moment was, it was nothing compared to Katie & Steve’s first look. The love between them as they looked at the person they were about to marry is hard to put into words – thank god for photographs!
After Katie & Steve’s first look we all headed to St. Mary’s Church which is a beautiful cathedral in Canandaigua. They said their I do’s surrounded by family and friends, and then exited the church as husband and wife, with huge smiles on their faces to a fun ribbon waving exit! I love how the photos from that part of the day turned out! Then we made one more stop before heading back to Bristol Harbour at Kershaw Park, where we had some spectacular views of the lake! I was in heaven; I could photograph people in love at beautiful locations every day!! The rest of their celebrations were just as wonderful and I’m so thankful they picked me to capture everything for them! Here are some of my favorite photographs – enjoy!
