social distancing chronicles part I: exploring Buffalo in early spring
Hello friends! I haven’t posted a new blog post in a while, and I think everyone knows why! COVID-19 has kept me from photographing any clients since early March, and I miss having people in front of my camera so much (and just, people in general)!
But, this isn’t a post about that, it’s about what I HAVE been doing. I have been spending a lot of time exploring Buffalo and the surrounding area, focusing on landscape photography and capturing the beauty if what I see around me. That’s how I got into photography in the first place, but it’s been years since I had this much free time to experiment and create images just for fun. I’d love to share what I’ve been photographing with you all, so I’m planning to do a monthly blog post of my latest adventures! Here are some of my favorite images that I’ve taken this spring so far. Hope they brighten up your day a little and bring some extra beauty into your life!
As you’ll see above and below, I spent a good amount of time exploring Buffalo’s Outer Harbor area and the shores of Lake Erie. We are so lucky to have so much beautiful waterfront here and places to watch the sunset over the water! A few of these are from Tifft Nature Park which is tucked right into that area!
I can’t say I was excited to see snow in April, but it definitely looked gorgeous during this morning sunrise at Delaware Park!
We took a drive up to Niagara Falls one evening and had the place to ourselves! Loved capturing the mist over the water at sunset.
I can’t even tell you how excited I get in the spring when flowers start blooming!!! I was so happy capturing the cherry blossom trees behind the Buffalo History Museum during golden hour.
The next few images are of the Eternal Flame Waterfall at Chestnut Ridge Park and the hike leading up to it! I used long exposures to capture the flow of the water in a more dreamy way!
Love walking around downtown during the early evening to capture interesting cityscapes and sometimes waiting for the sun to be at the exact right place!
Here are a few more images of the cherry blossoms from a different day! I went at sunrise and found the place mostly deserted (YAY!). The last image is actually multiple images stitched together so that I could showcase the whole scene at once.
