Meredith & Matt’s wedding day was a special one for many reasons. If you follow along with my social media, you may know that the rooftop ballroom at the Strathallan Hotel in downtown Rochester is where my husband and I had our wedding! This wasn’t my first wedding back there since my own, but it was the first that my husband photographed with me! It was so special for us to be there together at this place that holds so many precious memories for us, and documenting another couple’s big day, capturing their happiness and love at entering the next chapter in their lives!

When I first met with Meredith and Matt over a year ago to discuss their wedding, I liked them right away! They told me how they planned to get married in February of 2020, on what would be their four year anniversary. We talked about how you can never predict the weather in Western NY in February, and they were super laid-back about it; they seemed prepared for anything, from a blizzard to freezing rain and slush. Of course, you HAVE to mentally prepare yourself for those possibilities when you have a winter wedding in Rochester or Buffalo, but you HOPE that you’ll get a fresh blanket of fluffy white snow and some sun peaking through the clouds, and that is exactly what these two ended up with!

Every bit of this day was filled with all the things that make me love a wedding day - beauty, joy, emotion, and I have to say it; great lighting! Meredith got ready on the sunporch of her parents’ home, surrounded by faces beaming at her with love, and with three walls of windows letting in the gorgeous natural light and snow-covered scenery. Ladies, if you’re debating where to get ready for your big day and want to have the best photos possible, think NATURAL LIGHT!

Their first look was one of my favorite moments of the day - Matt’s face is priceless! The views from the rooftop are gorgeous, and it looked even more beautiful a few hours later when I got to take the newlyweds outside for a few sunset photos before the party got started! These two were so easy to photograph - they’re laidback, always having fun, and they’re such a gorgeous couple! I could carry on and on about all the other wonderful parts of this day, but I’ll let the photos tell the rest of the story! Enjoy!
