gilbertsville farmhouse wedding: gabby + ryan
Gabby + Ryan said their I do’s on a beautiful late summer afternoon at Gilbertsville Farmhouse! It was my first time photographing a wedding at this venue, and I could hardly believe how many different picture-perfect spots there are on the property! From the beautiful barns and surrounding countryside, to the giant “XOXO” and “LOVE” signs, pond, gazebo, glamping area, and a rusted antique pickup truck with a “just married” sign on the back (and even llamas, puppies, and other farmhouse animals!), there were so many gorgeous areas I still can’t decide which was my favorite! I started off the morning at the farmhouse where Gabby & the ladies got ready, while Ryan and the guys hung out up by the tents in the glamping area. Once everyone was ready we headed up to a clearing in a wooded area, where Gabby and Ryan shared their First Look! It was a beautiful moment, but I loved the following few minutes even more. Gabby and Ryan decided to say their vows to each other alone in the woods rather than during the ceremony in front of everyone, (cue lots of laughter and happy tears) and it was such an intimate and special part of the day!
After we were done with pre-ceremony photos of these two and their bridal parties it was time for the ceremony, which took place on a big grassy field overlooking the surrounding countryside. More laughter and happy tears filled this ceremony, and they carried through the first dance, four incredible speeches, and parent dances! The interior of the barn that held the reception was decorated to perfection - make sure to check out those photos below! Before the dance party got underway, I got to sneak the newlyweds away for some golden hour photos before the sun set (always one of my favorite parts of a wedding!
I’d been looking forward to this day for so long for a million reasons, but mainly because of how much I love Gabby + Ryan! I went to high school with Ryan so have always known what a great guy he is (and it’s a testament to that fact that basically half of our grade was in attendance - it’s amazing how many close friendships he’s maintained over the years)! I first met Gabby when she reached out about their wedding photography, but have had the pleasure of seeing her a handful of times since then at other weddings and even at a Bills tailgate here in Buffalo (go Bills!!) and she’s always the sweetest (not to mention I’ve been totally inspired by all her adventures around the world)! These two are genuinely kind, fun, loving, driven people who bring out the best in each other - I can’t wait to see what the future holds from them! It was such an honor to document this incredible occasion and I hope the photos speak for themselves!! Enjoy!
