This was my last wedding of 2016 and I'm so happy I got to finish off the year with Lauren & Nick’s big day! They are easily one of my favorite couples I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with and I’m so honored they chose me to photograph their wedding. It was the perfect mix of classic wedding traditions combined with unique touches that totally broke the mold, which I think is perfectly fitting for Lauren and Nick. In fact, everything they chose seemed to fit their personalities, from the superhero action figure boutonnieres that the groomsmen wore, to the bold and bright cobalt blue that Lauren chose for her bridesmaids’ dresses – all perfectly fitting for a vibrant couple with great senses of humor!
I’m always so excited to shoot at a Rochester wedding venue that’s new to me, and this was my first time at Deerfield Golf & Country Club. I absolutely loved it! They have a big and beautifully decorated bridal suite downstairs, and I started the day off there with Lauren and the girls. I wasn’t surprised that Lauren and Nick’s beloved dog, Aries was there (whose actually already been on my blog from their engagement session). Aries was later escorted down the aisle with the bridesmaids, rocking a cobalt collar that matched the rest of the girls perfectly! Surprisingly, a doggie bridesmaid was not the most unique thing about Lauren and Nick’s ceremony. I’d have to say that was the fact that it was outdoors. In WINTER. Lauren told me an outdoor winter wedding ceremony was their plan months ago, and I was curious ever since if it would actually happen! I was so excited about the possibility of outdoor winter ceremony photos, which I’d never had the chance to capture before, and I’m so glad she stuck with her idea! It might have been chilly, but it was absolutely beautiful! ALMOST as beautiful as the moment Lauren and Nick first laid eyes on each other from opposite ends of the aisle.
I’d been told earlier that there was no way Nick would cry when he saw Lauren, that he’d never cried in the 7 years they’d been together, and that he just didn’t think it was possible. But when he saw Lauren, the tears flowed, and when she saw that he was crying, she started to as well. I can’t find the proper adjective to describe how unbelievably precious this was, so I’ll just say that moments like that are 100% my favorite part of this job. From that moment on, the smiles never left their faces! The day for them was clearly about enjoying their love for each other, along with all of their friends and family. It was truly special to witness and I’m so thankful that I got to capture these moments for them.
Lauren & Nick – I hope you can look back on these images forever to remember how absolutely glorious your wedding day was!! Thanks for trusting me to capture it! <3
