When Stephanie was a college student at SUNY Geneseo she worked at a dance studio nearby. During her sophomore year one of the dance student’s moms told Stephanie that she had a son that Stephanie just had to meet! Spoiler alert: that mom is now Stephanie’s mother-in-law. Stephanie and James met, started chatting through texts and Facebook, went out on a few dates, and it wasn’t long before they knew it was meant to be.
Four years later, after a dinner out to celebrate their anniversary, James surprised Stephanie with a scavenger hunt in their apartment. Ultimately, this hunt lead Stephanie to the last page of a scrapbook she’d been putting together of her and James’ time together. The last page was a bucket list of adventures Stephanie & James hope to go on together, and James had written in “get married” at the bottom, and tucked the ring into the page. As she saw this he got down on one knee to ask her to be his wife!
Stephanie and James are one of the most genuinely kind and sweet couples that I’ve ever had the pleasure to photograph. One of the members of the bridal party (Stephanie’s “Man of Honor” in fact) gave a speech and mentioned that he had a memorable conversation with Stephanie & James about “choosing happiness” in life, and it seemed so obvious to me that that’s how Stephanie & James live their lives! They seem so full of positivity and optimism that it’s contagious, and spending their wedding day photographing them was really special. Here are some of my favorite shots from their big day at Glendoveer’s!
