Courtney and Eric’s story began over nine years ago, when they happened to be at a few of the same parties during a break from college. They met and chatted for a while, probably unsure if they’d ever see each other again, but something compelled them to keep in touch. One thing lead to another, and they found themselves in a long distance relationship while Courtney was in school, and Eric was in the army. After getting to know them a bit throughout this process, I don't find it surprising that they had the drive and dedication to make the distance work, even with so much going on in their own separate lives. Eventually they realized they wanted to spend forever together, and during a trip with Courtney’s family Eric got down on one knee. Obviously, Courtney said yes!
When their big day finally arrived, things started off at Belhurst Castle. Courtney and her bridesmaids got ready in one of the castle’s rooms, which I’m always so excited to photograph in because the architecture and stained glass are beautiful! Eric was nearby on a house on the property getting ready with his groomsmen, and toasting with the bottle of Johnny Walker Blue he’d gotten as a gift from his soon-to-be wife! The forecast had called for nonstop rain, but it ended up holding out for most of the day, and was just barely sprinkling when it was time to head to St. Stephen’s church in Geneva for the ceremony. Whether it’s during a first look or at the start of the ceremony, it’s always a beautiful moment when the bride and groom first see each other, and it NEVER gets old. Eric’s face was priceless as he got his first sight of Courtney being escorted down the aisle by her father (and so was Courtney’s face, and her dad’s for that matter). Lots of love in that room! Their reception was back at Belhurst Castle, and from their joy as they shared first dance, to the heartfelt speeches, to quite the dance party, this was a party to be remembered! I’m so thankful I got to capture all of it for them!
