high falls rochester engagement session: lauren + nick

A few weeks ago I photographed my first sunrise engagement session! This required me to do something that I avoid at all costs; set an alarm. An alarm for BEFORE the sun came up, no less. Admittedly you might be thinking “you’re pathetic Katie, I do that every day.” Well good for you!! I am infinitely impressed by anyone who can call his or herself a ‘morning person.’  I however, am not one of those impressive humans, and one of the best things about working for myself is that that’s okay!

BUT on the lovely April morning of Lauren and Nick’s engagement session, I forced myself to be a morning person and it was totally worth it.  It helps that as soon as I get a camera in my hand I get a bit “high on life” as they say.  It was all blue skies and sunshine here in Rochester that morning, and Lauren and Nick were so fantastic to photograph. They brought their dog Aries along for a few photographs and I had to include one in this post because I could not believe how awesome this dog was. Not only did she look at the camera whenever I wanted her to, I swear she was even smiling. Maybe someday Aries will have a career in show business and these photos will make me famous.  Probably.

We started off the session at Corn Hill Landing for a few photos with the city in the background, and then made our way over to the High Falls area which is always a fun place to shoot! At the end of the session we made a quick stop in the Park Ave area to get a few photos of Lauren and Nick in one of the local coffee shops there (and so they could get coffee).  These two are so great and I cannot wait for their wedding this December! I know they’re going to incorporate their own personal styles in some unique and fun ways and I can't wait to capture it all!
