I’ve been especially looking forward to this wedding ever since Laura and Doug chose me as their wedding photographer. Actually, more like ever since our junior year of college. Laura and I became good friends early on at Geneseo and spent a few years as housemates, so I got the insider scoop on her and Doug’s love story as it unfolded. It seems like it was only weeks after Laura first mentioned Doug, after meeting him on Spring Break of all places, that they had fallen completely in love. I was so happy that Laura had found such a great guy who was perfect for her. I don’t think anyone who knew them had any doubts that they would spend the rest of their lives together.
During our conversations leading up to the wedding Laura talked enthusiastically about the field where they would be having their ceremony, so I was hoping she wouldn’t be too let down when a rainy day caused the ceremony to move indoors. It turned out I had no need to worry, Laura was in high spirits when I arrived at the Starlight Lodge, and when the rain was mentioned she said “Who cares? I get to marry Doug today!” She certainly had the right attitude and of course the wedding turned out to be beautiful despite the rain, which ended up clearing up for us later on leaving a unique sky and gorgeous lighting situation for some photos on the lake.
Laura has always had excellent style that is uniquely her own, which I saw reflected in everything from her beautiful flowers, to the crushed turquoise in her and Doug’s wedding bands, to the venue itself. It was my first time shooting at the Inn at Starlight Lake and I fell in love with the scenery – so beautiful! Their family and friends were great and you’ll see from all the dance photos I included here that this was a really fun crowd!
Laura and Doug (Daura) – I couldn’t be more happy for you two and wish you a life full of love and happiness – you deserve it!
