Shoots like these are one of the reasons why I couldn’t possibly love my job more! Engagement sessions are one of my favorite things to photograph for so many reasons. With no time crunch, I’m able to really think about the composition of each shot, fully explore each location, and try out lots of different poses – the artist in me can completely take over. It’s especially fun when someone is as enthusiastic and upbeat as Kasey, who came with some great ideas of her own. She suggested Honeoye Falls for the first part of the shoot and it was a beautiful spot. They also brought their adorable black lab Davi along and that was great – it’s always fun to incorporate something a little different (and to get to play with a puppy). We headed to downtown Rochester next for a change of scenery (and outfits). Cityscapes are some of my favorite backdrops, providing interesting angles and reflections that emphasize the beauty of my subjects.
An engagement session is also the perfect way for us to get to know each other, and to help the bride and groom get comfortable with having their photograph taken before the wedding. I love hearing about their lives and their unique story.
This isn’t this couple’s first (or last) time on the blog – you may remember seeing Max’s proposal to Kasey earlier this year. I am so happy these two have chosen me as their photographer – anyone can see that they’re absolutely gorgeous, but they’re also incredibly nice and fun to be around. This post might be a bit long for an engagement session, but I just had too many favorites to make it any shorter! I can’t wait for the wedding!
I hope you enjoy the photos!
