Best of 2019: Weddings!
2019 had its ups and downs of course, but overall it was a wonderful year both personally and professionally! At its start, we lived in a house in the suburbs of Rochester (we miss you Fairport!), but in May right as wedding season kicked off we moved into an apartment in the Elmwood Village of downtown Buffalo. The move was mainly for my husband’s work and I have to admit I was not totally excited about the change at first, but it ended up being one of the best decisions ever! I absolutely LOVE Buffalo; we’ve had such a great time living here so far mostly thanks to the people, and specifically going from suburbia back to city living has most definitely been right for us!
My husband Mikey also started second shooting with me at the majority of my weddings this year and he is SO.GOOD. It’s been really great getting to train someone to second shoot exactly how I would if I wasn’t busy getting the primary shot! I can’t even put into words how thankful I am that I get to do what I love with who I love!
After looking back at all the weddings we had the honor of photographing in 2019 I couldn’t feel more positive that I have the BEST CLIENTS IN THE WORLD. Each one of these couples had their own unique story, relationship, and style of course, but they were all wonderful people and I couldn’t feel luckier that these fantastic humans trusted me to capture such an incredibly important day in their lives!
I am always amazed by how many wedding venues there are around here – I’m going into my seventh year of photographing weddings full time and I still manage to work at a handful of new (to me) venues each year! Somehow 2019 was my first year photographing weddings at the Arbor Loft and at Crispin Hill (LOVE THEM BOTH!) and I’m thrilled that I had a few Buffalo weddings (even though I didn’t know we were moving when I booked up for 2019) at Templeton Landing and Riverworks. It was also my first time at Gilbertsville Farmhouse, Blenheim Hill Farm, and Jimbo’s Club at the point and these were all insanely beautiful – venues tucked away seemingly in the middle of nowhere surrounded by gorgeous scenery tend to be my favorites!
Of course I also had plenty of weddings at venues that I’ve been to many times and love dearly such as Bristol Harbour and Belhurst Castle in the Finger Lakes and the Hall of Springs in Saratoga (this was the venue I shot the most at this year with 3 weddings!). From beaches to ballrooms to barns and everything in between, I love that my job brings me to such beautiful places to photograph beautiful souls in love.
Here’s a collection of some of my favorite images from this year – enjoy!
