franklin plaza troy wedding: ashley + justin

It was the perfect fall day when Ashley + Justin’s wedding rolled around! There was sunshine peeking through the clouds and a cool breeze blowing when we arrived in downtown Troy that morning and made our way to Ashley’s hotel room at the Best Western Plus Franklin Square Inn. Ashley is a total sweetheart and I’ve been so excited to photograph her wedding ever since I first met her almost two years ago! She was as warm as ever as she greeted us and introduced us to her mom and bridesmaids who were helping her get ready. I always start off photographing the details (invitation, dress, rings, etc.) and this room was such a gorgeous setting for that! When it was time for Ashley to get into her dress she looked STUNNING, and you can tell from the tears in her father’s eyes after they shared their first look that he agreed! It was such a special moment and we could tell that this was going to be a really emotional day (in the BEST way)!

Afterward we made our way to the park along the waterfront right by the hotel where Ashley + Justin had their first look! Cue the second round of tears!! We spent some more time in the park with these two and their bridal party before heading over to the alley next to Franklin Plaza for more photos. The light was coming into the alley in just the right way, and I loved the brick lining either side! After we’d finished up the rest of the bridal party and family photos, it was time for Ashley + Justin to say their I dos!

Their ceremony was on the rooftop of Franklin Plaza, and I actually didn’t know it was possible to have ceremonies there until Ashley told me! I LOVE a good rooftop (“best rooftop bar” is always the first thing I google when I go to a new city)! This one did not disappoint! Guests made their way to their seats under a brilliant blue sky and took in views of the Green Island Bridge and Hudson River as they waited for the bride & groom to make their entrances! I don’t think there were many dry eyes in the crowd as Ashley’s father escorted her down the aisle, both of them with tears streaming down their faces, and Justin absolutely beaming at his bride-to-be! The ceremony was short, sweet, and perfect. Afterward, we stayed on the rooftop for a few more photos, and then it was time for the reception! I think you could guess that there were lots more happy tears throughout the formal dances that toasts that kicked off the evening! It was a perfect night in every way and I’m honored that Ashley + Justin trusted me to capture it for them. I absolutely loved getting to know these two throughout this process and hope the future holds all the happiness in the world for them!!!
