the state room downtown albany wedding: morgan + nick
Morgan & Nick are MARRIED and their downtown Albany wedding was truly unforgettable! They tied the knot in early October and despite a questionable weather forecast, we ended up with a perfect Fall day — overcast skies, a cool breeze, and the first hints of foliage starting to appear! I’d been so excited about their wedding day for a while and was so honored when they first reached out that they wanted me to photograph it! Morgan’s parents are some of my parents’ best friends and favorite people, so I’ve known for a while what a truly incredible bunch their family is and what an extra special wedding this would be!
Morgan is one of the genuinely sweetest people I’ve met, and when I arrived at her parents’ home the morning of the wedding she was as sweet as ever, while also calm, cool, collected, and HAPPY as could be. The bride’s attitude the morning of the wedding can completely set the tone and mood for the rest of the day, and it was most definitely true for this day. There were so many moments that filled my heart with joy, from her mom helping her get ready, her dad seeing his little girl in her wedding dress, and then especially when Nick arrived and they had their First Look! There was so much joy on their faces! These two have been through thick and thin together; they first started dating way back in 8th grade! How many married couples can say that!?
They said their I do’s at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Albany which is one of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever been in! I couldn’t resist sharing several wide shots of the ceremony because the architecture is just so gorgeous! Afterward we headed to the nearby State Education Building (more stunning architecture!) and the park outside of the Capital Building for portraits of the two of them and their bridal party before it was time to head to the State Room for the reception! It was a party to be remembered, and I especially got a kick out of watching my parents tear it up on the dance floor!! This was one of my all-time favorite weddings that I’ve ever had the honor of photographing, and it’s 100% because of what great people Morgan & Nick are and have surrounded themselves with.
