Burgundy Basin (Rochester, NY) Wedding: Shannon & Mitch

Shannon & Mitch made the trip back to Rochester, NY from their new home in Tennessee to get married amongst their friends and families this past weekend.  It was an absolutely wonderful day and it was an honor to play a roll in it.

For their first look on their wedding day, Shannon and Mitch thought it would be perfect to return to the spot where their actual first look happened – St. John Fisher.  They met there during their freshman year attending the college.   First looks are always such an emotionally charged moment, and this one might have been the most moving one that I’ve ever witnessed.

After finishing up the first look and bridal party pictures on campus, we headed over to the canal in Bushnell’s Basin for some more portraits of Shannon and Mitch, and their family photos.  Despite the forecast calling for non-stop rain throughout the day, the first drop didn’t fall until we were completely finished with our pictures!

Then, as unpredictable Rochester weather often goes, it went from being sunny to down-pouring in about five minutes.  The excellent staff at their wedding venue, the Burgundy Basin, quickly adjusted the plan for the ceremony and the day continued on smoothly!  After the I-Dos it was time for the party to start! After the introductions and speeches the ring bearer stole the show.  He took over the dance floor for a 45 minute solo dance party during dinner that had the entire room in fits of laughter.  Shannon and Mitch had a tough act to follow, but their first dance to the classic love song 'It's Your Love' was truly beautiful.  The parent dances each turned into a family affair when all the other mother/son and father/daughter combinations were invited to join the dance floor - I loved seeing the grandmother of the bride dancing with her four grown sons.  The dance floor was packed for the rest of the night, and it was clear everyone was having a blast celebrating Mitch and Shannon.  I had a really great time photographing such a fun crew!

Shannon & Mitch - thank you so much for choosing me to be your photographer, and for making me feel so welcomed on your wedding day!  You were wonderful to work with and I wish you nothing but the very best - I hope you love the photos!
